Introducing my redesign of the Yokohama DeNA Baystars!
Starting off, I thought “What is a BayStar?”. In my research, I found out about the "Japanese Common Starfish" which is purple and yellow in color and lives, among many other places, in the waters off of Yokohama. Since purple is not used by any other team in the NPB, and the starfish would make sense as a mascot, I designed the BayStars with this inspiration.
For the uniform, I took inspiration from their current home uniforms with stripes down the front, but moved these to the sleeves, and paired them with matching stripes on the pants.
横浜DeNAベイスターズのデザインを刷新しました！
まず最初に、「ベイスターとは何か？」と考えました。調査を進める中で、紫と黄色を帯び、横浜沖をはじめとする多くの海域に生息する「キヒトデ」の存在を知りました。NPBの他のチームでは紫色が使われていないこと、そしてヒトデがマスコットとして理にかなっていることから、このインスピレーションをもとにベイスターズをデザインしました。
ユニフォームについては、現在のホームユニフォームにある前面のストライプを参考にしましたが、これを袖に移し、パンツにも同じストライプを合わせました。
